Things at work remain stressful and chaotic. The children are the least of my problems. The bureaucracy, break room politics, and language barriers between foreign teachers and Korean staff test me day in and day out. I can feel my soul withering as the winter weeks drag on and I long for spring to appear. This is the toughest winter that I’ve had emotionally since high school, and I am sick and tired of it and ready for something, anything, to give.
My motivation lately has been looking forward to the next big thing. Something that I have been counting down to since Dan’s visit. On Tuesday night I will leave my worries behind and hop on a plane to Beijing, China where I will be visiting my dear friend Jonathan. Jon and I have been friends for years and I can’t wait to spending time with someone who truly understands and cares about me. AND, I am really excited about seeing the historical powerhouse that Beijing is (hello Great Wall!) Last week I watched an amazing film called The Last Emperor, an Academy Award winning biopic which I learned a lot from and just got me even more excited about my trip.
That is if I can make it to China….you see they have been having horrible weather lately and the transportation system is all amuck, particularly because it is the Lunar New Year period and everyone is trying to get to their families. Actually, I am convinced that I will get there, but check out this CNN article about some of the madness that is ensuing due to the conditions.
Here are some other things in the future that I am looking forward to:
-February is a short month.
-Bjork concert on Feb. 16th.
-Martha is planning to visit!

Yeah, I’m getting so tired of February already. I was supposed to hold a meeting today, and we’ve got a flash flood in the area. The last week, we had snow blowing around! I wish I could just fast-forward time or something.
